The Securing Care for Seniors Act of 2015, introduced by Ways and Means members Reps. Diane Black (R-TN) and Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) and Energy and Commerce members Rep. Brett Guthrie (R-KY) and Rep. Dave Loebsack (D-IA), would require the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to reevaluate and consider changes to Medicare Advantage's risk adjustment model.


The Increasing Regulatory Fairness Act of 2015, introduced by Ways and Means members Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX)—chairman of the Health Subcommittee—and Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA) and Energy and Commerce member Rep. Joe Pitts (R-PA), would expand an annual regulatory schedule for Medicare Advantage payment rates.

The Seniors’ Health Care Plan Protection Act of 2015, introduced by Ways and Means members Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-FL) and Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY) and Energy and Commerce member Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), would delay the authority to terminate Medicare Advantage contracts for plans failing to achieve minimum quality ratings under the Medicare Advantage STARS rating system.


The Medicare Advantage Coverage Transparency Act of 2015, introduced by Ways and Means members Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA) and Rep. Ron Kind (D-WI) and Energy and Commerce member Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), would require annual reporting of enrollment data in Medicare Advantage plans.

In 2007, House Democrats insisted on changes to four pending trade agreements with Peru, Panama, Colombia, and South Korea. Those changes, among other things, created the most progressive medicines provisions in U.S. trade agreements. Unfortunately, TPP is currently failing to live up to that standard.
