New data from states across the country highlights the harm local communities will face due to the Republican failure to extend unemployment insurance before leaving for the winter holiday break. On December 28, 1.3 million Americans were immediately cut off of their unemployment insurance coverage. Below are the county-by-county data reported by states.
"[P]reventing currency manipulation through the I.M.F. and other multilateral forums has not been successful, and this potentially matters a great deal for the United States economy. … [T]he issue is cheating within the system, with governments' getting away with actions that distort markets on a grand scale. … [Mr. Levin's proposal to address this in TPP] is a targeted and responsible proposal. It should get support from both sides of the aisle on Capitol Hill."

If Republicans allows federal unemployment insurance to expire, nearly 7,000 people in West Virginia will lose their insurance coverage immediately on Dec. 28, according to the new data from the WorkForce West Virginia. An additional 9,700 people in West Virginia will lose their coverage in the first six months of 2014 if Republicans continue to block an extension of the program, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
If Congress fails to extend the federal Emergency Unemployment Compensation program more than 24,400 people in Washington State will lose their insurance coverage immediately on Dec. 28, according to the Washington State Employment Security Department. An additional 37,600 people in Washington State will lose their coverage in the first six months of 2014 if Republicans continue to block an extension of the program, according to Department of Labor estimates.
If Congress fails to extend the federal Emergency Unemployment Compensation program more than 64,200 people in Texas will lose their insurance coverage immediately on Dec. 28, according to the Texas Workforce Commission. An additional 106,900 people in Texas will lose their coverage in the first six months of 2014 if Republicans continue to block an extension of the program, according to Department of Labor estimates.
If Congress fails to extend the federal Emergency Unemployment Compensation program approximately 73,000 people in Pennsylvania will lose their insurance coverage immediately on Dec. 28, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. An additional 92,900 people in Pennsylvania will lose their coverage in the first six months of 2014 if Republicans continue to block an extension of the program, according to Department of Labor estimates.
If Congress fails to extend the federal Emergency Unemployment Compensation program more than 20,000 people in Oregon will lose their insurance coverage immediately on Dec. 28, according to the Oregon Employment Department. An additional 29,000 people in Oregon will lose their coverage in the first six months of 2014 if Republicans continue to block an extension of the program, according to Department of Labor estimates.
