Neal Statement on Start of ACA Open Enrollment
SPRINGFIELD, MA—Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement ahead of ACA Open Enrollment for 2027, which begins Sunday, November 1 and closes January 15, 2027:
“As Open Enrollment begins, families should review their options carefully to find the coverage that meets their needs. Unfortunately, millions are once again finding Trump and Republicans’ health care cuts waiting for them in sky-high premiums for the second year in a row. While Republicans’ cuts might be just numbers on a page to them, for workers and families, that can mean the difference between prioritizing their health, putting food on the table, or keeping the lights on.
“The Republican record on health care is one of failure, with 15 million Americans set to lose coverage and countless more left to weather out-of-control costs. Right now, the share of adults without health insurance is the highest it’s been in over a decade, climbing near levels unseen since the Affordable Care Act took effect. What a stark contrast to the record number of families who got covered and saw $2,400 back in their pockets under Democrats. Families aren’t going to forget that when given the choice, Republicans chose to backslide on progress so they could hand another tax break to the wealthiest.
“Democrats won’t stop fighting to reverse that damage and put health care in reach for every American.”
