January 17, 2025

WASHINGTON, DC—Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) and Trade Subcommittee Ranking Member Linda Sánchez (D-CA) released the following statement after the Biden Administration released a report on their Section 301 investigation into China’s unfair trade practices in the maritime industry:

“Today’s report by the Biden Administration confirms an unquestionable truth: China’s unfair trade practices continue to threaten our supply chains, workers’ rights, and international competition and cooperation. It also amplifies the importance of a national shipbuilding strategy that will bolster our national security and bring good-paying union jobs back to our shores to strengthen our economy.

“Ways and Means Democrats remain committed to building on the historic, worker-centered progress of the Biden Administration, and will continue fighting for a Made in America economy that has the backs of working people and the industries they support.”
