Neal Floor Remarks on Republicans’ Rules Package

"I rise today in strong opposition to this so-called rules package.

A first step in codifying the extreme Republican agenda.

One that forces cuts to Social Security and Medicare, while the well-off and well-connected wait patiently for their next round of tax cuts.

Our seniors have been sold out. Our military was sold out. The full faith and credit of the United States is under threat.

All in a quest to organize the House.

Because even amidst spending cuts, they've cleared the path for doubling down on tax cuts to the ultra-rich and corporations.

By bringing back their fake scoring, the stage is being set to yet again put the ultra-rich and corporations before working Americans and their families.

This is about enriching their own, and rationalizing their attacks on the programs that Americans depend on—Medicare and Social Security.

We see through their schemes, and I urge my colleagues to oppose this dangerous package."
