Neal Demands Committee Hearing with CMS Administrator Oz

WASHINGTON, DC— Following a closed-door, bipartisan meeting with CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz, Ways and Means Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) demanded a full Committee hearing when Congress returns in early September:

“Since taking over at CMS, Administrator Oz has overseen a series of deeply dangerous and ideologically-driven decisions that will raise costs, cut access, and undermine public health and safety for the people. Career staff were fired en masse, regional offices shuttered, and critical guardrails dismantled. Now, Republicans are refusing to extend key cost-saving measures to combat the double-digit premium increases coming for many Americans. This is the time for public accountability, not a closed-door meeting. 

“We need answers. Under oath and in front of the American people. If this Administration truly believes in ‘radical transparency,’ now is the time to show it.
