Today – Groundhog Day – House Republicans will wake up, drink their morning coffee, read the paper, and then do what they've done 62 times before: vote to repeal or undermine the Affordable Care Act.‎

Instead of coming up with new ideas to move the country forward, House Republicans continue to waste taxpayer dollars by voting over and over again to take health care away from millions of Americans, and to directly attack women's access to safe and affordable health care. And despite repeated promises of an alternative to the ACA, there's still nothing to show for it.

Republicans can't seem to dig their way out of this reckless cycle, despite the significant progress that's been made.

Since the ACA was signed into law:

  • 17.6 million uninsured Americans have gained health insurance coverage.
  • The rate of uninsured has dropped to historic lows since enrollment began – currently just 11.4%.
  • 129 million Americans with pre-existing conditions no longer have to worry about being denied health care coverage or charged higher premiums because of their health status.
  • 50,000 lives were saved from 2010-2013 due to a reduction in hospital-acquired conditions, such as infections.
  • Americans have saved $9 billion since 2011, because of the new requirement that insurers have to spend at least 80% of every premium dollar they receive on quality health care.
  • $19.2 billion has been recovered for taxpayers from stepped-up anti-fraud efforts in Medicare and other health programs under the ACA.
